Chief Executive Officer

Lewis and Clark Blood Services Region


Julia has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Lewis and Clark Blood Services Region since December 2004 and added the Arizona Region in 2013.  Her responsibilities extend to Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Utah for recruitment, collections, clinical services and associated financials and quality assurance. 

Julia obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.  She holds a Masters in Business Administration degree from St. Ambrose University, Davenport, IA.

After working at the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center in Davenport, IA for 20 years, Julia spent two years at Virginia Blood Services in Richmond, VA as Vice-President of Technical Operations before moving to Utah where she worked for Intermountain Health Care Blood Services, Salt Lake City, Utah until 1997 when IHC turned its blood collection operations over to the American Red Cross.  Julia began her career with Red Cross in 1997 and served in various capacities until being appointed CEO.

Julia lives in Salt Lake City with her spouse, Jim Barnes.
