PHILADELPHIA, PA — January is National Blood Donor Month, a time to recognize the importance of giving blood and platelets while honoring those who roll up a sleeve to help patients in need. To celebrate, Dunkin’ of Greater Philadelphia is partnering with the American Red Cross to provide 28,000 vouchers for Red Cross blood and platelet donors in the region.
Throughout January, presenting donors will receive a voucher for a free* medium Hot Coffee and a free classic donut, redeemable at participating Dunkin’ restaurants in the Greater Philadelphia Region, while supplies last. The vouchers are not redeemable for cash.
The winter months can be especially difficult to collect enough blood and platelets to meet patient needs. Inclement weather can result in blood drive cancellations and seasonal illnesses, like the flu, can prevent some donors from making or keeping appointments to give. Blood donors with all blood types are encouraged to make an appointment to give.
“Currently, the Red Cross has an urgent need for blood donations of all types – especially type O – to ensure patients have access to lifesaving treatment this winter,” said Helen Munizza, regional donor services executive, Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. “Our partnership with Dunkin’ of Greater Philadelphia allows us to thank our donors with a special gift this January and underscores the importance of donating blood and platelets.”

“Dunkin’ is honored to once again team up with the American Red Cross to reward deserving blood donors this January,” said Jessica Weissman, Field Marketing Manager, Dunkin’ Brands. “We hope that by offering donors a free medium Hot Coffee and donut, Dunkin’ will encourage blood donors to roll up their sleeves this month and donate blood to those in need.”
