JOPLIN, Mo. (Aug. 10, 2020) —The American Red Cross, KSN-TV and KODE-TV invite the community to help save lives at the Joplin Community blood drives Wednesday, Aug. 19 from Noon – 6 p.m. at the Joplin Elks, 1802 W. 26th St., and Monday, Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Victory Ministry Sports Complex, 3405 Hammons Blvd., in Joplin.
Donors are urged to give blood and help meet the constant need for blood products for patients battling diseases and facing the unexpected. As a thank-you for helping ensure a stable blood supply, those who come to give Aug. 1-Sept. 3 will receive a $5 Amazon.com Gift Card via email, courtesy of Amazon.*
Blood drives continue to be canceled as many businesses and community organizations remain closed due to COVID-19 concerns. Donors are encouraged to make and keep scheduled appointments to help meet the current urgent need.
“We are truly grateful to KSN and KODE for partnering with us on these blood drives” said, Joe Zydlo, external communications manager, American Red Cross, Missouri-Arkansas. “As we have seen during this pandemic, things can change quickly and that is why these blood drives will help us keep a stable blood supply.”
Donors are asked to schedule an appointment prior to arriving at the drive and are required to wear a face covering or mask while at the drive, in alignment with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention public guidance.
Blood drive safety precautions
Each Red Cross blood drive and donation center follows the highest standards of safety and infection control, and additional precautions – including temperature checks, social distancing and face coverings for donors and staff – have been implemented to ensure the health of all those in attendance. Donors are asked to schedule an appointment prior to arriving at the drive and are required to wear a face covering or mask while at the drive, in alignment with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention public guidance.
