Bebo’s Car Wash continues its commitment to make a difference in the community by sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive Aug. 2-4. Bebo’s Car Wash has worked with the Red Cross for 27 years to help ensure a sufficient blood supply.
This blood drive comes during the difficult summer months, a time when many regular donors postpone giving blood due to vacation plans and summer activities. Right now, blood products are being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in.
Every two seconds in the United States blood and platelets are needed to respond to patient emergencies, including accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or sickle cell disease. The Red Cross must collect approximately 14,000 blood and platelet donations every day for the patients at about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide.
“We appreciate Bebo’s Car Wash for being a committed Red Cross partner and raising awareness about the need for blood,” said Mario Sedlock, director of donor recruitment for the Red Cross Alabama and Central Gulf Coast Blood Services Region. “Blood can only come from generous volunteers and this is a great opportunity to help hospital patients in need.”
Presenting donors will receive a T-shirt, free Chick-Fil-A entree coupon, free car wash, a $5 Amazon.com gift card claim code, a $10 Visa gift card, sponsored by Suburban Propane, while supplies last, and chance to win a car detail valued at $100.
