BETHLEHEM, PA — Hoping to make a broad community impact, Ryan Toth, 15, is partnering with American Red Cross and Nancy Run Fire Company to complete his Eagle Scout Service Project.
Ryan is coordinating a Sound the Alarm home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event on Saturday, May 11, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in Bethlehem Township. Volunteers will start the day at Nancy Run Fire Company, 3564 Easton Ave., before working in teams to canvass neighborhoods and install free smoke alarms and educate families about fire prevention and safety. For more information or to volunteer, visit soundthealarm.org/easternpa or call 484-403-4721.
Ryan is also coordinating a community blood drive on Tuesday, May 30, 2-7 p.m. at Nancy Run Fire Company. The blood drive is open to the public. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins may be accommodated as space and time allow. To schedule an appointment, visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code Toth or call 1-800-REDCROSS.
“My grandfather was kept alive by blood donations for the last six months of his life,” explained Ryan. “I know how important blood donations are for families in the community.”
