In April 2025, the American Red Cross invited people to spring into action and help hope bloom by giving blood, platelets or plasma. Additionally, all who came to donate in April were automatically entered for a chance to win one of three $5,000 gift cards.
Dylan is a dedicated platelet donor. “After medical complications, my grandmother started needing blood transfusions semi-regularly. I told her that I would start giving platelets as a way to support her throughout her treatment. I am so fortunate to share that she is still in good health to this day,” he said.
Jennifer overcame her fear of donating in honor of two friends she met in school. “My friend from college almost died in childbirth and was saved by blood transfusions. My friend from high school has a daughter with a rare blood disorder who has had 82 blood transfusions before the age of 10. I’ve been donating blood for nine years now, and every time I do, I think of them,” she said.
