Buncombe County and the city of Asheville’s emergency responders are gearing up to see who can recruit the most eligible blood donors in the community during the American Red Cross Battle of the Badges blood drive competition on February 19. The friendly competition pits the Asheville Fire Department, Asheville Police Department, Buncombe County Emergency Medical Service, Buncombe Country Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Highway Patrol against each other to see who can win bragging rights and a traveling trophy.

Schedule an appointment for February 19 at First Baptist Church in Asheville.

Community members are needed to roll up their sleeves and donate blood. Everyone who presents to donate blood also will get to cast a vote to help decide the winner.
