HAZLET, N.J.— After coordinating a successful American Red Cross blood drive for his Eagle Scout Service Project last October, James Robert Borg, 18, of Hazlet, New Jersey, was celebrated at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Sunday, April 14. He is the 94th Eagle Scout to be recognized from Troop No. 137 of the Boy Scouts of America.
Rosie Taravella, Regional CEO, Red Cross of New Jersey, attended the ceremony and presented Borg with a letter from Red Cross President and CEO Gail McGovern celebrating his accomplishments.
“Your leadership, hard work, perseverance and service are to be commended,” wrote McGovern. “Please continue your exemplary citizenship – the future of our great nation depends on citizens who share their gifts of service and leadership. The American Red Cross salutes your achievement.”
For his Eagle Project, Borg coordinated a blood drive at the Cullen Center in Hazlet on Oct. 19, 2018. The drive collected 44 pints of blood, which will help up to 132 patients in New Jersey in beyond.
