Southern California Transfusion Medicine Lecture Series
The Southern California Transfusion Medicine Lecture Series offers continuing education on a variety of topics related to Transfusion Medicine, particularly for hospital blood bank employees. Lectures are available onsite at the Blood Center on Wednesday mornings from 8:30 – 10:30 am. Each lecture is approved for 2.0 continuing education units (CEUs) for California Licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientists & Personnel (Accrediting Agency #0015), including medical laboratory technicians and phlebotomists.
Limited lectures are accredited by the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI) for up to 0.30 continuing education credits (CECs) as indicated on the lecture schedule by an asterisk (*).
Attendees must be present for the entire program to receive credit – late arrivals will not receive credit. Certificates are given at the end of the lecture upon receipt of a lecture evaluation.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, the participant should be able to describe key concepts presented by each speaker. Each lecture has specific objectives distributed with the lecture handout.

All lectures are held at the American Red Cross Blood Center on the grounds of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly).

Driving directions
The Blood Center is west of the 57 Freeway, south of the 10 Freeway and north of the 60 Freeway. From the 57 Freeway, exit at Temple Avenue and go west (downhill) to Valley Boulevard and turn right. At the next light, turn left onto Kellogg and drive through the traffic circle. Turn right into the front lot of the Blood Center.
Alternatively, from the 10 Freeway, take the Kellogg exit, drive through the Cal Poly campus staying on Kellogg. Cross South Campus (major intersection), turn around at the traffic circle and turn right into the front lot of the Blood Center.

There is no fee to attend if you are employed in a hospital which uses Red Cross as the primary blood supplier. Otherwise, cost to attend is $15 per lecture or $125 for the entire series (discount). Checks only (no cash or credit cards). Make checks payable to: American Red Cross Blood Services.
