Here’s a rewarding opportunity to help someone battling illness and disease, such as cancer or an autoimmune condition. Specialized Donor Program* participants are compensated based on appointment type, up to $350** per collection.

The Specialized Donor Program is looking for healthy participants^ to give a variety of collections^^ - including white blood cells – called Leukopaks. Collected cells are used by Red Cross cell and gene therapy partners that are researching or producing therapies to treat diseases such as cancer or autoimmune conditions. Program Details:

*Individuals between the ages of 18-64, weigh between 110 and 500 pounds, and are in general good health may be eligible to participate in the Specialized Donor Program.

**You will be paid with a gift card at the time of prescreen or collection or a check will be mailed to your home following the appointment.

^If you qualify as an eligible candidate, your prescreen results will be valid for 90 days. If you are not contacted to give a collection within those 90 days, we may contact you to schedule another prescreen visit. You will be compensated $50** for each prescreen visit.

^^If you are contacted for a collection, the type of collection will vary. We will let you know which type of appointment is being scheduled.

The collection types are:

A Leukopak collection, which takes approximately 3-5 hours and is compensated starting at $300.
A Cell Therapy Blood (Whole Blood) collection or Leukocytes (Buffy Coat) collection, which takes approximately 1-2 hours and is compensated starting at $200.

Please note, you can continue to donate blood, plasma, or platelets while in the Specialized Donor Program, but you must wait between donating blood and giving a Specialized Donor Program collection. Please call 1-833-595-2214 and a Red Cross team member can provide more information.
