Brad Brown, Blood & Platelet Donor, Red Cross Blood Drive Chairperson

I first gave blood at a company blood drive about six years ago. At the time, I hated needles, but knew it was important to give blood.

I feel that when you help others, you also help yourself. Giving blood and helping to organize Red Cross blood drives at Georgia-Pacific is a great way to pay it forward. I believe most people want to help if given the chance to do so.

I donate blood because I like helping others. I have donated for 10 years and became a blood drive coordinator five years ago when Brad Brown needed my help with a blood drive at Georgia-Pacific where we work.

I first donated blood when I was 18 and have also given platelets. To date, I have donated between 12 and 13 gallons of blood.

I began working with Brad Brown and Lisa Bunnell a couple of years ago when another great volunteer, Eric Balholm, retired from the mill. The Red Cross is a worthy cause and I feel honored to help the organization.
