Donor Stories
Donating is not painful, but actually rewarding
At only six-years-old, my grand-daughter, Natalie has faced greater medical obstacles than most grown adults. She had her first open heart surgery at five months, and after developing Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), she had a second heart surgery at age five. Since her birth, Natalie has received three units of red blood cells, two units of plasma and has undergone several additional surgeries which resulted in more blood transfusions.
Currently, Natalie is doing well. She is an extremely intelligent six-year-old that doesn’t let anything stop her. Natalie is still alive because of blood donation.
I am now a frequent blood donor and Red Cross blood drive coordinator. In fact, i recently coordinated a blood drive that was dedicated to Natalie. There is a need for blood. Donating is not painful, but actually rewarding.
