Donor Stories

During my freshmen year of college, I donated blood for the first time. When I received my donor card in the mail, I learned that I was O negative, the universal donor. Since then I've donated at least dozen times and I can't imagine all the lives I've helped save for just a few moments of my time.

The American Red Cross has an emergency need for blood donations and is urging community members to donate at the Dine and Donate Blood Drive, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Smith Street Diner, 438 Battleground Ave. in Greensboro.

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte blood drive organizers are aiming for a new record this year: 1,000 pints of blood collected at the annual “49ers 4 Life” blood drive on Jan. 26.
