Giving a Little More

August 02, 2013
Donating blood for the first time 4 years ago I was at the lowest acceptable weight, had just recovered from one of many bouts with bronchitis, and was a tenth of a hemoglobin level above the minimum, even after taking iron supplements for 2 weeks. Each time I donate I have precautions to take, but I never hesitate when the benefit of each pint is unfathomably greater than any bump in the road to donation. I feel like the extra few struggles I overcome add a little more to each pint, a bit of love and perseverance are donated too. And that's what keeps me coming back to the Red Cross (the cookies don't hurt either!)
