First Time

February 06, 2013
I was excited to donate, and did so shortly after my 16th birthday. The staff were so nice throughout the entire process. It was my first time and there was barely any pain. Initially the needle hurt when she first put it in, but after that it didn't hurt. I finished quickly, in under 10 minutes. I felt fine until about an hour and a half after I was done. Only then did I feel tired, but that was it. I was fine the next morning. I would encourage anyone who can to donate! It makes you feel very good about yourself, and just the basic fact that you are saving lives is amazing. I watched my grandfather battle leukemia over the summer and the amount of blood he needed definitely made me realize how often blood was needed, which furthered my decision to donate. I have already made my next appointment. I encourage anyone who can donate to do so!
