41 NBC Teams Up With the American Red Cross

May 14, 2013

Summer is a time for fun in the sun, late nights with friends, and family vacations.  It’s also when blood donors are needed to help their community.

41 NBC and the American Red Cross are teaming up to host a Memorial Day blood drive.  Donors can find us at one of the following locations on May 27, 2013:

  • GALLERIA MALL  |  2950 Watson Blvd., Centerville, Ga. 31028
  •                10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • AMSTAR CINEMA  |  5996 Zebulon Rd., Macon, Ga. 31210
  •                10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • BASS PRO SHOPS  |  5000 Bass Pro Blvd., Macon, Ga. 31210
  •                10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • KINETIX HEALTH CLUB  |  129 Blandy Way, Milledgeville, Ga. 31061
  •                10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • MACON DONOR CENTER  |  3755 Bloomfield Rd., Suite 12B, Macon, Ga. 31206
  •                8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

“We’re proud to team up with the American Red Cross for this blood drive,” said Derek Rogers, general manager, 41 NBC.  “It’s a great opportunity for 41 NBC to spotlight how blood donation services benefit our community and can potentially help save lives.”

Each presenting donor will receive a free t-shirt, and be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $1,000 gift card that can be spent on food, gas, entertainment – anything you want!

“Blood donations typically decline during the summer, but the need for blood doesn’t change,” said Jerry J.K. Tillery, chief executive officer, American Red Cross Southern Blood Services Region.  “We thank 41 NBC for working with us to help ensure blood is available for patients.”

Approximately 1,200 blood donations are needed daily in the Southern Blood Services Region to maintain an adequate supply for more than 120 local hospitals.  Blood can be safely donated every 56 days. Most healthy people age 17 and older, or 16 with parental consent, who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood and platelets. Donors age 18 and younger must also meet specific height and weight requirements.
