COLUMBIA, S.C. (Oct. 22, 2014) — This year’s Fourth Annual Main Street Battle for Blood offers potential donors an opportunity to support their favorite school and enjoy the upcoming Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) concert for free.

All donors at the Main Street Battle for Blood are invited to give blood for their school of choice, South Carolina or Clemson. Presenting donors will receive a free Main Street Battle for Blood T-shirt, while supplies last. In addition, those who come to give blood on Nov. 7 at three Main Street locations will be entered to win one of 50 pairs of tickets to the local TSO concert on Nov. 21.

“Even during the holiday season, blood is needed at hospitals for patient care,” said Ryan Corcoran, Community CEO for the South Carolina Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross. “Those who attempt to give at this blood drive will get a special gift just for trying to give the perfect gift to a patient in need of a blood transfusion.”

Donors are encouraged to roll up a sleeve from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:

Agapé Conference Center, 1622 Main St., down the alley behind Michael’s Café and Catering

This year’s blood drive is sponsored by Agapé Senior, Edens, MGC Insurance Defense, Nelson Mullins, NBSC and Nexsen Pruet. Carol Caulk of Agapé Senior said Main Street businesses host the event to encourage employee participation and make a difference in the community.

“As we move toward the holiday season, the need for blood and emergency support services increases,” Caulk said. “I am greatly encouraged that several businesses along Main Street have once again stepped up to support the Main Street Battle for Blood and impact our city in a positive way. Our goal is 150 pints of blood this year — which could help save up to 450 lives!”
