Darlington Raceway Sponsors 7th Annual Blood Drive to Commemorate 9/11 Anniversary

August 23, 2012

Join Darlington Raceway and the American Red Cross to pay tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11 by saving lives through blood donations. The 7th annual Darlington Raceway 9/11 memorial blood drive will take place 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the Darlington Raceway infield media center.

The 9/11 terrorist attacks were a defining moment for our country, as one of the worst days in American history brought out the best of the American spirit. Donating blood is a meaningful way to honor those whose lives were lost while also helping those whose lives depend on blood transfusions today. This summer, the Red Cross blood supply dipped to its lowest point in 15 years. One blood donation can save up to three lives, and one donation can go a long way in helping replenish the blood supply. Giving blood helps ensure that hope is available for local hospital patients when they need it most.

To schedule an appointment, go to www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code darlingtonraceway or call 1-800-RED CROSS (733-2767). Appointments are encouraged; however, walk-in donors are welcome.

All presenting donors will be eligible to drive their own car behind the pace car around the track “Too Tough to Tame” and a Red Cross travel mug, plus Bojangles will be providing free food to donors.
