High school students in Oregon and Washington account for nearly 25,000 pints of donated blood each year.

This year’s High School Blood Drive Challenge involved more than 100 high schools in Multnomah, Clark, Washington, Clackamas, Linn and Marion Counties. The High School challenge winners where those schools with the highest percentage of blood donations within their division.  The winning schools will receive a pizza party plus a traveling trophy to keep for one year.

High school students play a critical role in maintaining the blood supply for hospital patients. Each year, lifesaving blood is collected at local high schools, potentially helping to better thousands of lives. High school and teen donors are—without a doubt—the future generation of blood donors for the American Red Cross.
