The Red Cross Asks You to Be the One to Save a Life by Donating Blood

Across the Region this summer, YMCA’s teamed-up with the American Red Cross to show their commitment to social responsibility by hosting more than 25 blood drives during the recent summer months.

Local YMCA Staff, members and the community across the Penn-Jersey Region showed their true colors in support of the American Red Cross by donating over 1,266 units of blood during the Summer Campaign, potentially helping to save 4,000 lives.

YMCA efforts will go a long way in helping to provide a second chance for an accident victim, a new beginning for a cancer patient, or a better tomorrow for a child with Sickle Cell Disease.

The American Red Cross Penn-Jersey Region supplies blood to approximately 100 hospitals in New Jersey and five counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Blood drives are held seven days a week in communities across the region. To make an immediate appointment for an American Red Cross blood drive this week CLICK HERE or call 1-800-RED CROSS to find a listing of community blood drives.

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in PA and NJ), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.  Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.
