Red Cross Reports Increased Need for Blood

Spring is here, a time of hope. For hospital patients in need of blood, hope comes from generous volunteer blood donors like you. You can make a fresh start this spring by becoming a donor or increasing your yearly donations.

Blood products collected by the Red Cross are being distributed to hospitals as quickly as they are coming in.  Every blood type is needed to help maintain a sufficient supply for patients.

Every year, nearly 5 million need blood transfusions. Thanks to dedicated donors, the Red Cross can support patients at about 3,000 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country as the largest blood supplier in the U.S.

Donate blood to provide a fresh start to those in need. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, and just one donation can help save up to three lives. Spring into action and give hope by giving blood at a Red Cross blood drive or donor center near you.
