Fall is Near but Summer Blood Shortage Continues

Red Cross to Give Away Five $100 Gift Cards per Day 9/17-9/30

It’s been a difficult summer for the American Red Cross.  Natural disasters, record high temperatures, and outrageous gas prices all contributed to a low blood supply.  While thousands of generous blood donors rolled up a sleeve to donate during this time of need, the Red Cross blood supply remains critical as we enter autumn.  In fact, surgeries could be at risk of being cancelled at area hospitals.

The American Red Cross supplies almost half of the nation’s blood supply, and with someone needing blood every two seconds, this is a monumental task that can only be accomplished with the public’s support.  The Red Cross is now asking you to donate blood, and help educate others about the need for constant blood donations.

Due to the serious need for an increase in blood donations, the Red Cross is giving away five $100 Visa gift cards to five lucky donors within the Missouri-Illinois Blood Services Region per day from Saturday, September 17 through Friday, September 30.  Attempt to donate blood and you will not only potentially help up to three patients, but you will automatically be entered into this generous drawing.
