To schedule an appointment to donate blood at a Cardinal’s blood drive, call 1-800-RED CROSS or go to and enter sponsor-code: “StlCardinals” or click here. Please bring a photo ID.

The goal for the Cardinal’s Blood Drive is to collect over a thousand pints of blood.  Because each pint can help up to three people, more than 3,000 lives could be impacted.

“We sincerely appreciate the efforts and commitment the St. Louis Cardinals show during their Step Up to the Plate blood drives,” said Scott L. Caswell, chief executive officer of the Missouri-Illinois Blood Region. “Cardinal’s fans produce over a thousand pints of blood each year and show they support the Cardinals and the Red Cross in helping to save lives.”

The 2011 Step Up to the Plate blood drives will kickoff on Tuesday, June 21 when American Red Cross Missouri-Illinois Region CEO Scott L. Caswell throws out the opening pitch of the Cardinal’s baseball game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

With the blood supply traditionally taking a dip during the summer months due to schools being out of session, family vacations, etc. the American Red Cross sincerely appreciate the Cardinal’s support, and asks all healthy individuals to participate and donate blood.

How to Donate Blood:

Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit to make an appointment today. All blood types are needed to ensure the Red Cross maintains an adequate blood supply. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 in Kansas with completed Parental Consent Form). New height and weight restrictions apply to donors younger than 19.

About the American Red Cross:

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
