Win a Dream Vacation in the American Red Cross’ Annual Getaway Giveaway Promotion

August 1, 2012

PEORIA, Ill. (August 1, 2012) – In need of a vacation? Looking for a way to make a difference in your community? Peoria-area residents have a chance to do both by donating blood or platelets with the American Red Cross.

In partnership with WEEK-TV, the Red Cross’ annual Getaway Giveaway promotion kicks-off on August 1 and offers everyone who presents to donate at the Peoria Blood Donation Center a chance to win a four day, three night Cancun vacation for two from Alexander Travel. Not only will donors have a chance to win a dream vacation, but they will also help ensure that blood and platelets are available for patients – no matter when or where they are needed.

“Earn a chance to soak up some sun and help patients in need by participating in the Getaway Giveaway,” said Shelly Heiden, CEO of the American Red Cross Heart of America Blood Services Region. “Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood. We’re encouraging Peoria-area residents to roll up a sleeve and win a chance to go on the vacation of a lifetime.”
