American Red Cross to Host Annual Race for Life Blood Drive

NASCAR fans encouraged to donate at annual blood drive

 Flint, MI- The American Red Cross Great Lakes Blood Services Region needs to collect about 700 units of blood each day to meet the needs of hospital patients.  With Memorial Day approaching and the excitement of NASCAR’s Indy 500 race growing, the Red Cross is encouraging all eligible donors to come out to donate blood at the Annual Race for Life Blood Drive Tuesday, June 1 at Courtland Center Mall.  All presenting donors will receive an American Red Cross ball cap and be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $500 Best Buy gift card. 


Time:  Noon – 7:45 p.m.

How to Donate Blood

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.

For the third year, the American Red Cross, through the generosity of the 3M Corporation and Roush Fenway Racing, hopes to educate NASCAR fans about the ongoing need for blood this racing season. 3M, in partnership with Roush Fenway Racing, is donating the No. 16 Ford Fusion’s full Red Cross paint scheme at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on June 27 and at the Texas Motor Speedway on November 7, 2010. Fans can join the Donor Rewards Program at and will have the opportunity to get points and exchange them for Red Cross Racing items.
