During the summer, many blood donors are busy with friends, family and summer activities and may overlook donating blood. Severe heat can also keep some blood donors from giving the gift of life.

While blood donors may take a summer vacation, the need for blood does not. It’s critical to ensure that hospitals have the blood they require at all times to treat patients with ongoing and emergency medical needs. That’s especially important to keep in mind with the Labor Day weekend on the horizon.

You can help. All blood types are needed now, especially type O negative. Please make and keep your appointment to donate blood in the coming days and weeks. Your donation now, during or after the Labor Day weekend will ensure that patients have the blood they need, despite the season.

Someone is counting on you. Please call 1-800-RED CROSS or click here to find a convenient blood donation location and to schedule a lifesaving blood donation appointment.
