Presidential Medal of Freedom winner Cesar E. Chavez is an example of an American who turned farm work into a life-changing labor-equality movement and improved the lives of families for generations. This program celebrates Cesar E. Chavez’s legacy as an American civic leader who was committed to improving the quality of life for the U.S. and provides college students and other supporters with the opportunity to exercise Mr. Chavez’s principles within their local community. In his honor, and in support of his vision for equality and dignity for all, we call on you to lead the effort to help ensure all patients have an equal chance at surviving illness and trauma.
The best blood match for patients often comes from donors of similar race or ethnicity. Red Cross supporters like you can use the Cesar Chavez Blood Drive Program to help connect the Red Cross with Latin American donors to help hospital patients in need.
Become a Blood Program Leader for your campus by signing up to host a blood drive in honor of Cesar Chavez and help bring awareness to the importance of Hispanic and Latino blood donors. Learn more about the need for a diverse blood supply.
