YMCA Teams Up with the American Red Cross
Penn-Jersey Blood Services Region
This summer, local YMCAs across the region are teaming up with the American Red Cross Penn-Jersey Blood Services Region to kickoff the Inaugural YMCA Blood Drive Challenge. The Challenge is a great way to encourage YMCA staff, members and volunteers to donate blood!
It is an unfortunate reality that blood donations decline in the summer due to vacations, holidays and the absence of high school and college blood drives. Local YMCAs are hoping that their staff, members and volunteers will contribute 2,000 units of blood to offset these factors and help the American Red Cross maintain a stable blood supply.
Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in PA and NJ), meet height and weight requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.
Now is the time to help provide a second chance for an accident victim, a new beginning for a cancer patient, or a better tomorrow for a child with Sickle Cell Disease.
Throughout the summer, blood drives will be held at the following locations listed below. Please click on the location closest to you to schedule your summer YMCA Blood Donation now.
