These volunteers are vital to our donor's overall donation experience. Volunteers serve refreshments, talk with donors, and remain alert and immediately call for help if a donor shows signs that he/she does not feel well. In addition, volunteers encourage donors to donate again, and promote a positive, long-lasting impression of the American Red Cross.
Purpose:
Serving refreshments, talking with donors, being alert and knowing to immediately call for help if a donor shows signs that he/she does not feel well. Donor Diner volunteers play a key role in making sure that donors have an overall good experience so that they will donate again.
Key responsibilities:
· Serve refreshments to donors after their donation
· Talk with donors
· Provide donor pins when appropriate
· Alerting medical staff if a donor does not appear to be feeling well or their arm is bleeding
· Schedule next blood donation appointment when applicable
Time Commitment:
Volunteer at least once per month at a blood drive. The length of a blood drive is approximately 6 – 7 hrs. It is acceptable if you are only available a portion of that time.
Relationships:
· Immediate supervisor at a blood drive is the Charge staff
· Working with the public in different venues
Qualifications:
· Good customer service skills
· Friendly disposition
· Dependable
· Have good mobility
Required Training:
Task training provided in the second hour of Orientation
