Volunteers welcome and sign-in donors, answer questions and provide excellent customer service. These volunteers often have the greatest impact on donors because they are the first to meet and greet them.
Purpose
The Greeter/Reception volunteer greets donors, welcomes them to the donation site, gives them information on donating blood, directs the flow of donors, and uses excellent customer service skills with donors as they move through the donation process. The position requires handling confidential donor information in a professional manner as mandated by the FDA.
Key responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome donors as they enter the blood drive
- Confirm donation appointment and have donor sign in using laptop computer
- Assist donors as needed entering donor name into laptop computer
- Provide donors with “What they Must Know Before Giving Blood” information that they must read/fill out before giving blood
- Monitor the status of donors
- Directs the flow of donors
- Provide excellent customer service as the donor moves through the donation process
- Make appointment reminder calls when applicable
- Schedule/Reschedule appointment when applicable
- Maintain appearance of area when applicable (fixed sites)
· Make sure all donor information remains confidential
Time Commitment:
Volunteer at least once per month at a blood drive. The length of a blood drive is approximately 6 – 7 hrs. It is acceptable if you are only available a portion of that time.
Relationships:
· Immediate supervisor at a blood drive is the Charge staff
· Working with the general public in different venues
Qualifications:
· Excellent customer service skills and Friendly disposition
· Dependable
Ability to clearly read a laptop computer screen and type in donor names as needed

Required Training:
Task Training provided in the second hour of Orientation
