Working in hospitals for 20 years in the GI lab I saw and treated hundreds of patients with liver disease and one of the complications of that is gi bleeding in the esophagus. So one day the red cross came to our hospital and was looking for blood donors. And being a healthcare professionals I decided to give blood believing I was o pos , because it said so on my dog tags having been in the military or 8 years. It turned out I was o neg. And if it wasn't for the red cross had I been in an emergency situation I could received the wrong type, which could of been fatal.I have been donating for 20 years now.
