Giving blood for Mom

On Feb 19th 2014, my sickly 73 year old mother was admitted to the ER with very low blood cell count. She received blood that evening, but passed away the next morning from respiratory failure. When I returned to work the following week, there was a blood drive. Although I had never donated blood in my entire life, I just felt in my heart immediately that I needed to give. I have the same blood type as my mother, so she was able to return the favor through me. I have donated twice now, and looking forward to my next opportunity.
