I donated blood for the first time when my daughter began to suffer with serious pernicious anemia. She had undergone every test known to the medical field with no answers, we are still searching. But when she was at her lowest, with no iron in her blood at all, she needed a transfusion. And while I watched the blood infuse her veins, I silently thanked a courageous donor. I too wished it was I who could give my blood that she could live a healthy life. Then I realized that I could. So, I give for her and others like her.
