Last year we lost the matriarch of my wife's family to a disease commonly known as pre-leukemia. As her grandmother bravely fought this disease her only real form of treatment was blood transfusion. This was not a curable condition at her age but the blood transfusions gave us all more time to enjoy with her and provided her with the energy to continue living comfortably until the very end. This whole situation finally made me realize what an amazing gift that blood donation is. This gift will go to a family's loved one; sombody else's Mommom who needs it to survive and that alone is worth it.
