I started giving whole blood in college over 30 years ago. My brother and I would give 4-5 times every year. Then I moved to Connecticut and married my wife, I continued to donate a couple of times every year. Then 11 years ago my 18 month old son was diagnosed with Leukemia, I went from donating whole blood to donating platelets. Donating gives me a feeling of fulfillment. Knowing that a person who is very sick and struggling to overcome their medical challenges has a fighting change just because there are donors willing to give.
