Giving blood never really meant anything to me until my mother was diagnosed with myeloma and I saw, firsthand, the importance of the transfusions she receives on a regular basis. Learning about the number people who depend on blood and platelet donations as they fight terminal illnesses has made donating blood a priority for me. It is quick and easy and it's such a small price to pay in order to help those in need as they fight for their lives.
