I have given blood over the past 2-3 years. I was scared at first because i didnt know what donating blood felt like, not having done so before. Before i gave a pint of my blood as a donation, it was explained to me that i would have to go over to the refreshment table after i was done donating to replace what i lost giving blood. At the next donation i felt comfortable enough and was not so nervous. After giving a gallon of blood and receiving a 1-gallon pin, i started doing double red donations. it was very uncomfortable at first when the first pint was drawn out of me and then had the plasma returned to me after whatever was needed was taken out of that pint. Here are the approximate number of lives i have saved thus far from my first donation to now: 2010: 12 2011: 24 2012: 18 for a grand total of 54 lives. As i look back on all my donations and the total number of lives i have saved with my blood, it occurs to me how happy and satisfied i feel knowing that i have saved the lives of 54 people i dont even know. Therefore i am happy to say to the 54 people i have already saved plus the many people who will be saved by my future donations that even though i dont know where you live, how old you are, or even if you're male or female, you guys hold a special place in my hearts and i hope you feel the same way about me. To all those who ask themselves how they can help somebody, this is an EXCELLENT way to help somebody. Give it a shot, because sometime in the future your blood could save me when i need it the most.
