When I was in high school, my dad always talked about me giving blood. He was a multi-gallon donor, and he wanted me to be a regular donor too. It was the right thing to do, he said. I finally donated for the first time when I was about 18 and have been a regular donor ever since. I've now donated 94 times and just did my first platelet donation last month. My 17 year-old daughter just donated for her first time last week, carrying on our family tradition. My dad is gone now, but he started a proud tradition in our family!
