I was born in 1969. I was a premature baby at 5 lbs 4 ounces. That was the start. I grew as a normal baby, but I began to have seizures at 4 months old. I was sent to the hospital to find that I had a subdural hematoma. The doctors opened my skull and removed all of the blood clot in two operations. I received about 5 liters of blood (or more, but it was significant). Over time, I healed and continue to live my life normally. I donate blood to help those children, those infants even, because I was saved. As a CMV negative donor, I know the value of helping these infants. This is my story, and to the reader: never put off donating. It saved me, and for that, I am grateful.
