I needed a unit of blood shortly after our second child was born. None was to be found locally. My husband called his place of work, and his boss had my type (B negative). His boss immediately made a donation, and I received that unit within a short time of his donating. At that time I learned that B negative is the second rarest blood type. Because of my immediate need of a unit of blood, I began donating regularly within a reasonable amount of time after having a baby. I recently reached the milestone of 18 gallons in donations. I will continue to donate as long as I am able. I am proud that I have faithfully donated.
