When I was a young girl, my mother was in the hospital and needed a blood transfusion. She had a rare blood type, one which I share. It took the hospital a little while to track down blood for her transfusion, and I vowed to myself that I would give blood as much as I could so that no other mothers would have to wait for a transfusion because of a shortage of their type.
