I wanted to share how grateful my family and I are to the Red Cross. My son was diagnosed with leukemia in December 2008. He had two stem cell transplants and received countless numbers of whole blood and platelet transfusions over the 2.5 years he was in treatment. He also received granulocyte transfusions when he was critically ill with a fungal infection and had no immune system of his own to fight off the infection. Some wonderfully generous person donated their granulocytes each day in Cincinnati, and it was driven to Indianapolis where my son was fighting for his life. I wish I could personally thank the person who made life possible for our son! Thanks to the support of the Red Cross, and countless donors, we just celebrated our son's second year in remission. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
