I grew up watching my mother give blood so it was just assumed as I moved out on my own. I went every year or two and felt "adult". In my mid 30's I found I was having twin girls.. and after marvelous pregnancy... I completely crashed. Two transfusions later I became a regular donor and my husband does it now as well. We hate needles but laying on that chair.. instead of focusing on the fear.. I focus on the gratitude. I'm so thankful to the donors that helped save me. I have two amazing children and I am blessed to know them! I will take them with me in the future so they know that it's the right thing to do, and it matters. Donating blood makes me proud and is a reminder of pure gratitude.
