When I was in college, I attended a blood drive and was turned away because I didn't weigh enough. The lovely volunteers and nurses were encouraging. "Come back when you're thirty and you weigh more," they told me. "What makes you think I'll weigh more when I'm thirty?" I asked. They just chuckled knowingly. And you know what? They were right. I am a regular donor now with such good veins I've been called "juicy" by one of the nurses!
