I am now 21 and started giving blood when I was 18. I was terrified at first, not of the needles, but of what might happen to me. I convinced myself that they know what they are doing and sure enough I was fine. I give blood because of all the help people give me I wanted to give back and since I have a rare blood type I know my help is needed just as much as I needed theirs. It feels good knowing I can and do make a difference in someones life. You never know who may need a blood transfusion. It could even be my baby cousin or nephew some day. I pray that it is never the case.
