When my nephew was born, my sister suffered a massive hemorrhage. She lost over half of her volume in blood and received 5 transfusions. If it weren't for that blood, she would have died. That's why I donated. She can't donate for the next 3-5 years until her blood replenishes itself, and I intend to continue donating for her. It's not just a bag of blood that gets shoved in a medical supply fridge. It can save a life. Most people who receive blood transfusions can't give blood until years later. We need to do it for them!
