Making a Difference

The first time I donated blood was in high school in my senior year. I never thought about what good my blood would do or who would benefit. I only cared about the goodies that were given after the donation. Four years later I came across the American Red Cross site and as an older much more mature person I decided to donate blood again and being a O-positive donor I knew my blood was the good type. When I arrived at the donation center I was browsing the pamphlets about the benefits of donating. A pint of blood can save up to 3 lives. I was mesmerized by the fact that I'm helping out those who need it in desperate situations. Every 56 days I make sure I schedule an appointment and its the best feeling in the world to know that I can somehow make a difference even if its just laying on the mat for about 10 minutes!
