Donor Stories

When I was 18, my high school offered an extra "senior skip day" for students who donated blood at a Red Cross blood drive.  At first, I jumped at the chance to get another day off school.

When I was finished donating the first time, and sitting at the refreshments table, I saw a Red Cross poster thanking us for donating and letting us know how the blood it was used. The last line said something like "thank you...for giving someone another walk on the beach and another night under the starry sky with the one they love".

From then on, I was hooked on giving.  And 25 years later, I still give three or four times a year and think of that poster every time I'm sitting at the refreshments table.

Host a Mini Blood Drive!

Your Organization Could Help Save Lives

Not every organization or business is able to host a blood drive at its own facility.  Smaller organizations and businesses can be part of the Red Cross team by sponsoring a blood drive at a local American Red Cross Blood Donor Center.

The Mini Blood Drive Program is a quick and easy, outreach opportunity for smaller groups. Your group provides the donors and someone to coordinate the blood drive, and the Red Cross provides the place as well as support and publicity materials to help make the drive a success.

For more information or to schedule a Mini Blood Drive please contact Cheryl Champine at (313) 549-7048 or by email.
