Vice President, Central Division
Sharon Jaksa has 28 years experience with the American Red Cross, serving in various capacities as: medical technologist, laboratory processing coordinator, senior technologist, assistant director of technical services, director of technical services, director of manufacturing, chief operating officer and CEO of the Great Lakes Region. In 2012 she was promoted to division vice president of the Great Lakes Division. In November 2013 she was appointed vice president of the Central Division which includes 15 Blood Services Regions and seven shared management teams. She resides in Michigan and holds a Master of Administration degree from Central Michigan University. She is also an adjunct professor for Michigan State University, teaching in the Masters Program for Laboratory Operations.
James D. Flickema
Chief Executive Officer, Southeastern Michigan and Great Lakes Blood Services Regions
James D. Flickema joined the American Red Cross in 2012 as CEO for the Great Lakes Blood Services Region. In 2013, his role expanded to include CEO for the Southeastern Michigan Blood Services Region. He has 30 plus years of experience in various disciplines including: healthcare operations leadership; clinical ancillary operations management; healthcare governmental advocacy; and planning and expansion of clinical services and primary care medical clinic development. He earned a Master of Science Administration from Central Michigan University and is an adjunct instructor at Michigan State University in the Biomedical Laboratory Department. Prior to joining the Red Cross he served the organization as chairman of the Great Lakes Region Blood Services Board of Directors. Originally from Muskegon, he currently lives in Lansing. He and his wife (Laura) have two college-age sons.
