 There’s a wave of excitement at the American Red Cross this summer as we partner with Discovery Channel for Shark Week, beginning Sunday,
July 31, 2011. 

The Red Cross hopes to reel in blood donors during special Shark Week themed blood drives during the month of July.

Although sharks can smell one drop of blood in a million drops of water, it’s sometimes difficult for the Red Cross to circle its prey.  Dip your toes in the water, if you dare, and you can help send a summer blood shortage out with the tide.  The Red Cross may be as blood thirsty as a shark, but we promise to only sink our teeth in for one pint of your blood.
